Meet one of our Atomic family

Since Atomic Coffee Roasters opened its doors on Ponsonby Road in 1992, our little family has been growing and evolving ever since. The coffee is pretty darn good around here but it’s really the people behind it all who make us who we are. We wanna show them off, starting with Brooke Chichester, our Field Sales Manager.

Tell us the story of how you came to join the tight-knit family at Atomic Coffee?

“I have worked in cafes and hospitality since my first job washing dishes at 15. Over the years I’ve worked in several roles, all in and around the coffee industry, learning more about cafes and expanding my coffee knowledge. An opening came available at Atomic and I jumped at the chance to move into a different role within the industry that I loved.”

What’s your favourite memory of working here?

“Oh, there have been so many! Atomic has been involved in some pretty fun events over the years. Some of the most eventful have been Splore, Fashion Week and Winter Fest. We’ve been lucky enough to take our Concord Caravan on a tour of the South Island and I can’t complain about those stunning views on the way to Queenstown.” .

Coffee is a religion in Auckland, but what are your favourite things to do in the city after a brew?

“Auckland is filled with amazing cafes and restaurants. After grabbing a coffee, a walk along the waterfront with friends is always a favourite of mine.”

Favourite cup from the Atomic online store?

“We have a limited run of special release coffees I love. From next week, we have a delicious single-origin available from Yunnan, China, as a part of our Outlier series. This series focuses on coffees that spark our interest whether it’s the region or farm it’s grown from or the flavour profile. This coffee has tasting notes of Plum Wine, Oolong, Fruit Cake… it’s a lot different from our regular offering.”

Now you know a little more about our team, pop into one of our cafes to say hey and grab a cuppa. We’ll be seeing you soon.
