Here at Atomic we have some of the best of the bunch in the world of coffee. Our Head Trainer Masako Yamamoto, has placed in the New Zealand Barista Championship and been 2nd in the New Zealand Latte Art Champs, but as there’s no rest for the wicked, she’s now added another accolade. Masako has now achieved the SCAA (Specialty Coffee Association of America’s) qualification to be a Specialised Instructor.


What this all means - well, Masako is now an instructor of international material developed by the SCAA, and can award Barista Guild of America Certificates for successfully completing this intensive course. This is a valuable credential for those in the industry wanting an internationally recognized barista qualification and could get your foot into some heavyweight doors of the barista world. In an industry of ever-evolving thinking, keeping up to date with new theories and methods is key to survival. Masako acknowledges many of the things she has been taught in the past have now been discredited, so there is always room for development and improvement from top level thinking through to coffee-making 101.
